Italian man sues Catholic priest to make it prove that Jesus existed:
Cascioli says Righi, and by extension the whole Church, broke two Italian laws. The first
is "Abuso di Credulita Popolare" (Abuse of Popular Belief) meant to protect people against
being swindled or conned. The second crime, he says, is "Sostituzione di Persona," or
impersonation.

This could be like the Scopes trial in nearby Tennessee. Of course, both trials might be fueled by the same reason: Greed. Story as told by an ex-Mayor of Dayton TN was the the trial in Dayton and the congruence of a few reporters, and the latest thing in communications (the telephone) was contrived. In this case Cascioli has a book for sale as mentioned in the article, and a small parish becomes famous, at least for a few minutes.
