I'm not sure that any of Flutterby's readers are the initial target market for this product, but since I've watched it go through development and think it'll be really cool once the folks marketing decide to loosen up a little bit on the content creation, behold the Cricut, a relatively inexpensive desktop label cutter.

Some friends developed the internal computer bits, which is what I've watched of the process. Personally it looks like a good hacking platform, either by replacing the circuit board (I believe that in-circuit reprogramming won't be possible, alas), or waiting for the marketing company to make their money on the cards so that they release the computer interface kit.
The thing it'd need to be useful to me is some sort of registration mechanism, right now it's targeted towards the scrap-booking market as a "cut these cool reliefs out of your favorite materias", but in conjunction with a water resistant inkjet printer and a way to register the cut materials, this'd make a good decal trimmer, for instance.
