Plame's job

What Valerie Plame really did at the CIA. She apparently ran the 50 person or so Joint Task Force on Iraq, the group charged with finding weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist. She wasn't outed to punish Joseph Wilson, she was outed to punish her.

I don't think we'll ever know exactly why Ms Wilson was outed. Richard Armitage makes it sound like it was a slip of the tongue rather than any blatant attempt to out her. I can see how it is in some people's best interest to reveal the outing as intentional to punish her or her husband and I can see how the administration could have felt a need to do so. I really can't see Armitage being involved in any political dirty tricks like this. Maybe the truth is that Rove saw a way to accomplish something through Armitage's slip of the tongue... or maybe there really isn't anything to the whole mess.
