Kinkade does NASCAR

Oh. Dear. @DEITIES. Thomas Kinkade does NASCAR. Truly, the apocalypse is at hand. Via lostorbit.

As I paint furiously, the electricity and spectacle of the moment is almost overwhelming.

Well, something's overwhelming... not sure if I'd gauge it as "the electricity and spectacle of the moment" though.

That's the sign the horsemen have been waiting for...here we go.

and that's gonna look fine in the single-wide next to the velvet painting of Elvis & Hank Sr having a picnic as Jesus watches over them.

BTW, you're link is screwed up

At least we still have MotoGP which is safe from the prying tentacles.

(PS: link needs fixing)

Thanks(?), Diane, the link is... uh... fixed.

'taint no real 500 picture without no Bud in it.... and no Daisy dukes and no bikini tops.... 'taint no real Daytona picture with no boobies. Hell, everybody knows that, right Bubba?

That there boy needs to stick to his creeks and flowers. 1000 bucks and Daytona with no Bud and no boobs? Sheeeeeit.

Did someone say MotoGP? It was good to see Nicky Hayden reach the podium in Indy. Valentino Rossi is still showing he may be the best ever, however.

I was pleased to see Nicky get back up there indeed. (He's off to Ducati next year, as I'm sure you've seen.) At least "Crashey Moaner" didn't low-side this time in Indy, that was getting to be too much of a habit (but I think The Doctor has him spooked). Horrible race conditions, though, good that they stopped it early. We were at Laguna Seca for the July Red Bull Grand Prix, and it was an incredible race. (And a photo of my son and me getting John Hopkins' autograph with his crutches next to him in the Kawasaki tent showed up on the team website: quel fame!) Tickets for next year's race go on sale in a couple weeks, I'm stoked. MotoGP >> NASCAR, hands down.

And we now return this thread to its original topic, about which I can't say much more than I already have.

Oh, no, keep going: Moto GP is far more interesting to me than Kinkade or NASCAR, although I do admit to a certain morbid fascination with Kinkade's enterprises from a business case standpoint.

Ya wanna go with us to the 2009 MotoGP at Laguna Seca, Dan? Let me know, I'm likely getting tickets in October. Younger Son and friend will be riding down, a MotoGP-loving pal from the UK will be coming over, we'll get Turn 11 grandstand seats and paddock passes and some hotel rooms, and since it's over July 4th weekend there'll be fireworks and some hootin' and hollerin' around the track.

Oh, and for the record, I saw both Bud and boobs there this year (although far more frequently, Red Bull and earplugs).

[Forgive me, as I've been in the woods/wilderness quite a bit this week and I'm finishing my camping flask of Jim Beam this evening.]

Uh, Diane, if Dan's not interested, I think watching sleek, fast rides at a MotoGP would be interesting to me. :-)

(Not meant to be a threadjack, but probably is).

For a number of reasons I wasn't able to make it to the MotoGP this year in Indianapolis (maybe a good thing, given the weather), but I've been photographing the AMA Superbike series for a number of years and this year I was a partial sponsor for two separate motorcycle racing teams a bit lower in the food chain (USGPRU, and Fasttrax).

Motorcycle racing is incredibly fun to watch, and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't experienced it yet. It's not all just about racing, either. In the spirit of Topspin's post, here is an entertaining photo I took several years ago at the Mid-Ohio racetrack during the Superbike races one weekend. (Note: I was focused on the girls).

I guess I'm going to have to be the one appalled at Thomas Kinkade violating the sanctity of NASCAR, although topspin sure hinted at it.

jeff, did that guy in the photo lose something?

#Comment Re: made: 2008-09-24 13:00:30.082058+00 by: polly

by the way...it isn't nascar unless earnhardt sr + boobs + bud are in the picture. i guess kincaide could paint an angelic picture of SR gazing benevolently down from the clouds or do one of those hidden pictures. either way, don't watch the races, babysit the grandbaby while his parents go to talledaga, but do try to keep up with the derby, preakness, and equestrian events with the olympics (horses, for those motor heads who may not know).

Polly, don't know, lol. As I mentioned, I was focused on the girls; I didn't even see the guy until I looked at the image on my computer monitor later. This photo was taken some distance away, using a telephoto lens. The image you see here is cropped from the original.
