Unplugging from social media today

Unplugging from social media today. 10 years ago, the terrorists won, the U.S. capitulated, gave them everything they wanted (multiple fronts in Afghanistan and Iraq, huge secondary impacts in the United States), and we relinquished our freedoms and ease of travel for silly security theatre which makes us no safer. And we continue to do so.

Interesting Dan... I wouldn't doubt it's as high as 50%.

Didn't Eisenhower warn US about the military-industrial complex?

Meuon--points well made. We'll never own the land in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Once upon a time, war made some economic sense because you kept the land, natural resources and people you conquered.

I'm seeing numbers as high as 47%, Jeff, though I'd have to chase them further to be sure. At any rate, I'm pretty sure it isn't making us safer, and the return on energy costs seems doubtful, especially in the long run.

It's my understanding that US military expenditures comprise approximately 40% of all military spending on the planet!

Either that, or when the U.S. populace decides it can no longer support the war profiteers who are bleeding us dry. I give more creedence to the armed rebellion scenario.

This is just a wild guess: The end game is when the soldiers (US) who have fought, are fighting, will be fighting over there realize what a fraud is being perpetrated on them and decline to serve the plutocracy anymore. With some reasonable luck, they won't then overthrow the whole structure and repeat the whole of the Bolshevik revolution, but don't count that possibility out.

Yes, the terrorists won, for all of the reasons you cite Dan.

Can ANYONE tell US what the "exit strategy" or "end game" is for Afghanistan?

How few individuals understand what can be stated in a simple sentence.
