I am confused. Are they serious?

Not serious.
And yet if I have to suffer through one more Twitter-influenced web design, I will personally go and excise everything since HTML 2 with a chain saw. Or at least write a proxy server to do so for iPad browsing.

I am curious as to why the spammers have latched onto this article/topic.
I need a 240 grid system, because I am trying to make a micro web portal for 2nd/3rd world Blackberry users whose phones suck at web, but don't do WAP well either any more. I'm being sarcastic. The best working layout ended up being a simple table (3 buttons across at 80 pixels each) for a menu. I get laughed at for using tables for layout as much as I do, but they always work as expected.
