Driving to vacation today we had to check times for No Kings events in every city we passed until we could get to one, then ended up going to two in the same town.

The rally in Seattle was huge - something like 10% of the city population turned out. I don't know if I've ever seen a bigger protest. I have my doubts as to whether anything will change as a direct result, but it can't hurt, and it feels good to stand up and be counted.

Yeah, it was nice to get out and chat with people, at least out on the fringes. The vibe closer to the center of these things always feels super weird, there's that sense of people making noise just to make noise, and the kinda scary close to the edge people waiting to go off. Nobody did at the Petaluma event, but it's all of my "yeah, this is my least favorite part of humanity and some people apparently dig it" triggers.

But we had a bunch of good conversations, said "hi" to a lot of people, then bought produce at the Farmer's Market (that was setting up as the rally was winding down) and pedaled the quadricycle home.

Yeah, and the current "don't let ICE sleep" protests in SoCal are definitely doing something.
