Some days, the jokes just write themselves. Remember that old Monty Python sketch that began "A lot of people in this country pooh-pooh Australian table wines."? Australia OKs laxative agent as wine additive, using sodium carboxymethyl cellulose to clarify and prevent crystallization in white wines.

Yeah, the only reason I decided it was silly was the Monty Python juxtaposition.
In fact, Charlene and I have had the dehydrator working overtime recently. Fall brings in lots more than we can eat immediately. We had a few spare trays, so we made flax crackers. Totally yummy. Great texture. High in fiber and oils. I've been very regular for the past few days...

Blood, issinglass (Sturgeon bladder extract), egg whites and betonite are
favorites in the clarification of wine. Blood is now unlawful in many nations, but
I think still legal in some.
