The Great Satan

Widely quoted, still not sure how I feel about it. From a BBC article on the preparations for the assault on Falluja:

"The marines that I have had wounded over the past five months have been attacked by a faceless enemy," said Colonel Brandl.

"But the enemy has got a face. He's called Satan. He lives in Falluja. And we're going to destroy him."

With a population of only several hundred thousand, it's highly unlikely that leveling Falluja will significantly lessen the ability of "insurgents" to do what they have been doing. Pre-war, the population of Iraq included 1.5 about million Baathists (approximately 6% of the population). But this operation will make nice press for GW ahead of the elections in January.

I'm getting more and more convinced it's a Christian Jihad (Holy War).

It's even more simple than that (Holy War):

It's THAT political reality, PLUS the religious right. Oh does that make might!
