Cool toys

2009-05-14 00:21:44.874696+02 by Dan Lyke 9 comments

I've got a basic 20MHz analog oscilloscope I got for a job where I built my first stepper controller, and I've got a nicer 25MHz scope that a friend gave me, but I was recently loaned a nice 100MHz digital scope. Not only does it occupy a lot less space on my desk, the "Run/Stop" button is a different world, as are the on-screen cursors that let me measure regions. I'm gonna have trouble going back... Hope I don't have to.

Shadow, that's super sweet!

(And would have been fantastic for 90% of what I used my 20MHz scope for: looking at TTL level serial data)

Handheld digital storage scope: $50.

$33 for the kit.

Only 2 MHz, but still...

Meuon, it's a Rigol DS1102E.

Jeff, I think it'd be key to have a number of people around with those, because unless you've got an excuse to race them they'd be an "okay, that was fun" experience.

I agree Diane and, as Dan also points out offline, "I don't need another hobby to suck me in!"

Jeff, that is super cool! I love how they even rigged up on-board.

This is a cool toy which is unrelated to a scope but I believe falls nicely into the subject heading. Amazing specs for only $229?

yeah.. I got my old 60mhz Tektronix back.. but I'd sure like a good 100mhz one, what make/model is it?
