Fluted Beams has some sort of steam and compression process which creates hardwood that can be bent cold, then dried. And it sounds like the amount of moisture in the wood while it's still bendable is low enough that it's still easily milled.

I saw this and immediately though of using it for drum shells. Then I saw that they're bending snare shells for one of the largest co's, Drum Workshop. Nice stuff all around, at one point it seemed like a dying art.

That is really some neat bending. I wonder what they do to the lignin to make it so pliable.
