Wow, the top ad link when searching for how to track an Amazon package has some nasty fine-print

So, why wouldn't one just search on Amazon in the first place? It has never occurred to me to look at any other website to track an Amazon package, unless I was rerouted there by Amazon, i.e. USPS or Fedex. If Amazon reroutes to this site, which why would they, then shame on 'em. How does this site even know about your purchase? Welcome to my naive world?

This isn't Amazon, it appears to be a service that just runs a regex on your tracking number and redirects.

Of course I just got the "your package was undeliverable and has been returned", presumably it got damaged in transit because my other two packages from Amazon are still on schedule for delivery today...

Yeah, a lot of places do that, but you have the option to uncheck the boxes. You have to watch those insidious little check boxes. Doesn't seem as if it would be to the advantage of Amazon not to have people track their packages, so they'd sorta have to give you the ability to opt out, or nobody'd use tracking. Naturally, the default will have the boxes checked, so beware!
