The board is 15 by 15, there are triple word score squares only on the corners and the center of each side. Players have 7 letters from which to build words, and (after the first move) they must incorporate letters already down on the board. And rarer letters, like "X", have higher scores. Furthermore, there's a bonus for playing all 7 of your letters at once.
So in a game where good players score in the 300 to 400 range for the game (the recent world championship was won with about 450 points, and I feel like such a geek for knowing that), and in my circles averaging 20 points a move means you're doing fairly well, that's a roughly 150 point move.

Mind explaining the joke to someone who's never played Scrabble?

I was hoping for IATION, but, alas, the tiles didn't have that in store. The leading S is made impossible because one of those triple word squares is at a corner. The real issue, of course, is that the word multipliers are cumulative, 9 times the word score plus the extra 50 points for using all letters is a pretty unassailable lead.

Add "TIAL" to the end? Or "S" to the beginning, then duck?
