Chicago city alderman finds technical excuse to dump offensive billboard. The offensive message? "Life's short. Get a divorce.", advertising the legal services of Corri Fetman and Kelly Garland of the firm Chicago Women At Law.

Well, Alderman Natarus was also a bug on dog crap. He did suggest diapers for the horses, so it was a basic pollution issue.

Neat. Ya see, if we had a journalism source that provided that much more background on the stories, I might actually pay for a newspaper!
And some day I'll learn enough about real estate to figure out why you wouldn't want horsedrawn carriages in your neighborhood.
I mean, as long as the basic pollution issues were under control.

What is interesting is that the Chicago Alderman mentioned, Burton Natarus, has just left the city council after losing the last election. Aldermen have a lot of power over things like zoning and public works inside their ward, and can make life miserable for you if you get on their bad side. Natarus was alderman for more than 30 years, and was widely seen as the biggest goof and nudge in the council. His ward includes the tony North Michigan avenue shopping district and the ritzy Gold Coast residential area (our answer to Beverly Hills), and he has waged endless war against anything that annoys real estate owners. This includes street musicians and horsedrawn carriages.
