I'm finding this disturbing. In my mind, the lack of an active role by western feminist organizations in advancing the rights of women in places like Afghanistan and the lack of support given to Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones are part of a pattern. And I'm not sure this problem is limited to just feminist groups. It seems like there is a patten of organizations that are glad to use free airtime and play ball with politicians but their bottom line seems to be the organization, not the people they claim to be advocating for.
I'm trying not to make this a left-right thing, I acknowledge there are other opinions wrt the Clinton impeachment.

I read the blogs of a number of sex workers, and the discussions of how what passes for "feminism" in most places don't speak for them are legion. In fact, I think there's generally a backlash against the term "feminism" because of what it's become.

Its kinda interesting that I found much resonance with Ziffle's article.
Then again, I was always an "equal pay for equal work" and "hey, if she can take it and wants to, let her... don't force all women into the workforce or all women into being baby factories" kind of feminist. I never understood attacking women who CHOSE to live as susie homemaker/mother. If that's what made them happy, then why is that an unacceptable choice?
Then again, I strongly oppose any regime that says "if you're a woman, you can't handle your own money, job, etc."
I guess I'm just not a totalitarian.
Oh, and why haven't the organizations rallied to women in Afghanistan etc? Because it doesn't grow the organization. They're not advocates for women and haven't been for a long time.

Well this was interesting. Appears to me that Feminism is simply left wing philosophy hidden inside a sugar coating.
